Does your organization have Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO) or Clearance and Release Procedures and Forms issues to protect your employees?
Procedures for locking out and releasing equipment for maintenance are an absolute MUST, as well as the forms needed to record the data. Your organization's Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO) program protects a worker by preventing others from turning on equipment or from a release of energy while working on or servicing equipment & machinery, while also controlling hazardous energy.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, have minimum requirements for the employer whenever employees are going to perform installation, maintenance, or repair on any equipment.
They consist of the following:
1. Implement a LOTO program that will include written procedures for their electrical systems.
2. Provide necessary equipment for LOTO program (locks, tags, diagrams, etc.).
3. Provide documented LOTO training to all workers exposed to the hazards.
4. Audit the LOTO program as a whole to ensure compliance with the written program.
5. Audit individual personnel who implement the LOTO procedure to ensure compliance and maintain documentation of the audit.
